Visual metronome - another perspective?

Title: Visual metronome - another perspective?
Hi there,

Another strategy is to try using a delay routed to a small speaker. The delay is going to follow the drummer’s natural tempo and bounce back into the feel being developed.

The resulting tempo may be higher or lower depend on the drummer’s natural inclination to push or pull against the delay. You can always tweak the delay time up or down to compensate.

You might like to try taking longer loops that recognize the drummer’s natural phrase length. There may be some variance in “absolute tempo” through the phrase but a it will be exactly the right length by the end. Those variations might be the drummer’s natural musicality expressing an awareness of structure.

(note to self: must re-read Rick’s post on randomizing machine drums)

Best wishes

Jeremy
