Apropros of looping: like all bridges the Forth Bridge, which crosses the Firth of Forth at Edinburgh, is in constant need of painting. Hence the expression "a Forth Bridge job," which is one that never ends. Then there's the joke about the ship entering the Firth for the first time. The pilot, radioing in for instructions, was told to put in just past the Forth Bridge. Picture him passing each bridge in turn: "one, two, three..."
