A variation is to start with "Record" but close the loop with "Overdub". This will even out some of the initial attack of the note/ chord played. I find this technique especially rewarding when playing with reverb as part of my instrument sound. If you do not do it like this you will end up with a loop that starts with no reverb tail and every time the loops starts over you will hear the reverb tail disappear. But, as David Kirkdorffer said, with a guitar it's easy to play a "fade in" attack. Use the volume knob or a volume pedal.
