Re: Live Looper on American Idol

I met Paula Abdul and she seemed a bit embarrassed about it. And she was actually a pretty savvy music person.

There's always been stuff like this on TV though. I SORT OF remember Arthur Godfrey's Amateur Hour... I think it was... had new talent showcases etc. But I don't think it had the voting thing.

But I've never watched American Idol. I don't get TV where I am! Never saw Seinfeld either.

One of the reasons I moved here.

Wanna hear some good guitar?

Ran into this site through Swart Amps. He's got some great demo stuff on the Swart Amp site too.

Back to the woodshed!

Yeah ya did. I am SO opposed to that show. Success should be achieved the old fashoned way. Playing gigs, hitting the road, maxing out credit cards to pay for a record or sucking cock. Or a combination of the 4.

NOT WINNING A GAME SHOW.

Of course this isnt as shameful as replacing a dead member using a game show. (Inxs).

Though I still think the girls are kicking the guys asses on American Idol. Melinda's version of My Funny Valentine gave me the chills. That girl can really belt it out.

Uh oh...did I just reveal that I'm a major AI fan?

We watch it all the time here. The shtick amongst the judges was more fun when it was just Simon being honest instead of intentionally irascible as he is now (and the other two are increasingly clownish are ridiculous). But you are so right about Melinda - not only can she belt it out, but that was the first originally-conceived version of MFV I've heard in decades, and it was fantastic. Also, it's quite moving to watch this humble background session singer discover the star that she really is. Maybe I'm a soft touch, but it brought me to tears.
