If you're in the SF Bay area I suggest checking out Vowel Movement. http://eachbox.com.istemp.com/vm_website/vm_homepage.htm LD's Kid Beyond is a regular there (though he's a laptop looper with Ableton Live) but there are many amazing artists that perform each month. I met Tim Barsky (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FujgZyCn31k) and his band there and ended up having them as our wedding band (it turned out that my wife to be was a huge Barsky fan from his amazing show The Bright River) -----Original Message----- From: Buzap Buzap [mailto:buzap@gmx.net] Sent: Friday, August 10, 2007 8:15 AM To: Loopers-Delight@loopers-delight.com Subject: Re: New to this and need set up help I also love beatboxing. Usually, it is the basis for songs I play on the RC-50. I used to play keyboard drums for looping. Meanwhile, I've pretty much replaced all of it with beatboxing. (I still add some additional real percussion occasionally). Also for the bass line, my voice is getting more&more an alternative to synth bassline (good EQ setting, mic position, punchy pronounciation do the trick). Though you can probably never get the pressure you have on a real e-bass or synth. What really scares me, though, is that there are some guys out there who just take a mic without looper & effects and beatbox like hell...
