More newb questions

I am running sooperlooper on my macbook, and I cant even get started. I 
have jack running and started, and i have sooperlooper open. I jsut want 
to get it to record from my internal mic, so i can get a feel for the 
system, and it wont record. I click record and it starts recording, but 
there is no playback, no sound is looped
