Yes, exactly.

In DELAY MODE stomp the left-hand pedal to start delaying your audio 
input.

Stomp again when satisfied with the loop you've created and continue to 
"solo" over it without adding any more to it.

Stomp again when you want to add more to the loop.

If you want . . .

Occasionally adjust feedback knob downward from 100% so older loop 
material fades in relation to newer stuff added.

This way your loops can evolve and change.
