I just traded in my digitech vocalist 2 for the vocalist 4. They are both amazing....not sure what you are looking for in pitch shifting or how it relates to how they generate harmonies but i suggest you check them both out..I only got the 4 hooked into my system last night so havent done much with it yet but in just 2 hours it really knocked my sox off...the 4 has much more to offer than the 2 in my opinion....and is definitely worth the extra $200.00.
They are seamless as well....no programming ...just plug and play....the harmony generator tracks the guitar melody and chord structure and the available presets on the 4 are unbelievable....the 4 also has the ability to let you program combinations other than the presets.....the tracking thru my echoplex is excellent as well.....
