[milco_montagna@alice.it] > My problem is different, it is systematic and is repeated every minute > even using a single software The fact that it occurs with XP but not with 2000 or MacOS suggests that there is something in XP that happens every minute that is consuming enough CPU to cause an audio dropout (crackle). If this is a fresh XP install, make sure that automatic Windows Update is turned off and the virus scanner is disabled. Sometimes there are applications installed by the PC manufacturer that try to access the net periodically to look for problems. Look in the icon bar in the lower right corner. If you see "Bigfix" or something that looks like a utility from the manufacturer, turn it off. This site has a lot of helpful information about tuning an XP machine for audio. www.musicxp.net I don't do everything they recommend, but it is very important that you turn off any background application that may access the network. The other thing it could be is the video card driver. Some video cards share memory with the CPU which can cause problems for audio devices. Make sure you have the latest XP driver for your video card. Jeff
