On stage there will never be a problem to controll output level digitally with your software, I don't see any advantage or even difference... rs@moinlabs.de schrieb: > I mean "roadworthy" in the sense of going on the road as a musician. > A "roadworthy package" for something that usually sits on some kind > of table or stand during performance is a package where the device > will not suffer damage if it gets thrown off the table onto the > (possibly hard) stage or even audience space floor. That would suggest that Zoë isn't playing a roadworthy instrument. If you throw a cello on the hard stage it will break, which might be even true as well for a guitar... My computer is my instrument, I take care of it, it won't fall. And the paranoid just carry a second one as backup... Roadworthy for me is that you can pack it safely to carry it around with as little weight as possible... (Thats probably the reason why you insist on half rack space for your specs to an audio interface. I am pretty sure it does only exist as a full rack for all the other specs) > You're of course right that it works really well if you put it into a > sturdy case and only unpack it when you don't play music ;) You can also take a Mac mini, preconfigure it to load all the magic automatically and only attach a monitor for trouble shooting... (The mini for the weight and size (and firewire), all rackspace computers are too heavy and big to be considered roadworthy according to our specs... ;-) Stefan -- Stefan Tiedje------------x------- --_____-----------|-------------- --(_|_ ----|\-----|-----()------- -- _|_)----|-----()-------------- ----------()--------www.ccmix.com
