Re: What's the best vocal looper to buy for live looping

i dont about u guys.
i own a rang, my 1st looper, then moved up to the edp.
sweet!

but, i got a Looperlative last yr and there really is no comparison. it it heads AND tails past everything else.
took some doing to get out of my edp habits like having to hit the rec button TWICE or ull remain in overdub mode but that aside, ull be amazed.

its EIGHT (8)...
STEREO
FOUR mins...
of 24 bit recording
my friend.

u do understand that this means that it has 16 times the trks of the edp.
my only gripe is the no undo thing but the maker is right. u have separate control of start and stop of 8 stereo trks. just stop the offending trk and rerecord it.
id still prefer an undo though. i feel naked onstage without it. i do screw up sometimes.
(like left it in overdub for the last 4 passes like an idiot).

plus, whatever u could conceive, just write to the maker and he will implement it in the next update which, by the way, is the easiest thing to do. u plug in ur cat5 cable, set the menu to update, press enter. in mins, u have the new software.

as i said NO comparison.

Welcome Michael C!

I'm sure others will chime in but alot of live vocal looping is dependent
on how your system is wired.  I've done vocal looping with a Boomerang
Live and now I use an EDP. The boomerang was cool but I had to tweak it to
get a cleaner sound and I didn't like the amount the vocals were
attenuated on successive loops.

The EDP is much more flexible live and you can lay down multiple patterns.
I love it for live and studio work.  Now the boomerang is just a backup.

I don't use my vocal mic for vocal looping (though I toyed with modifying
my system to do that a half year back.) I use the mic in my guitar.  Kinda
cooler for stage use.

You can hear some of the stuff done in one take using this setup at
www.myspace.com/bohdanovich . I prety much do these songs live just like
they are here-the EDP makes it easy to do

That's my two cents-I'm sure you'll get your money's worth here.

Welcome aboard!

Hello everyone, I have just joined the email list, but I'm really
exciting about using a looper in live performance.  I remember seeing
Phil Keaggy (a guitarist) using one like, 20 years ago, and I was
blown away.
