Re: HOW MANY LOOPS DO YOU USE SIMLUTANEOUSLY?

KH: I hope your son is alright, Mark. I know how that goes...nerve racking.

I must learn to be careful how I phrase things so as to not get myself in
trouble...

KH: Yet, when I re-read my statement, I don't think I said anything that
an
intermediate player would not admit if they did some soul searching. In
fact, they are things I would have admited a while back, and still do
admit
when it comes to recording moder jazz in the studio, in one take. (sorry,
can't do it to the leve of someone like John Stowell, John McLaughlin,
Abercombie, etc....I'm not there). How many intermediate players ARE
comfortable playing solo where everything they do is exposed. How many
intermediate players wouldn't admit that building a lot of loops and
layers
with more basic parts that they are capable of playing boosts their
confidence and allows their output to sound more accomplished that if they
tried it on their one, in one shot? I don't see anything
anti-commonsensical about any of this....it's all human nature. Why would
there be any shame in admiting that looping technology allows one to do
things that he/she can't do solo, on his/her own? Is there anything wrong
with this? If one has no shame, then what's the rub? Maybe you inserted
words inside my paragraph, suggesting I was placing judgement and saying
something is wrong with this. I don't think there is anything wrong with
it. I think it is a fact within the looping community.

KH: Understood, man.
