Most masterworks are done at a younger age iff what you do relies more on pure brainpower and to a lesser degree on a fresh spirit than on anything else. Most people who hold a nobel prize in physics did the respective work at a quite young age. I believe for an artist, experience and wisdom (not necessarily skill!) is more important than pure brainpower. That's why forementioned op. 110 and Die Kunst der Fuge stand out so much. Rainer
