anyone use the original ground control midi footpedal?

ive had it for awhile but just ran into a software flaw, - im hoping for a workaround or maybe a new product
 
they 're running version 2.3 and heres my problemo
 
lets say button number 1 is set to midi message REC
 
and button number 2 is also set to midi message REC
 
...when i press button #1 - repeater goes into Record
...when i press button #2 - nothing happens - it doesnt recognize the midi command
....if i press button #2 again, it will recognize the command and end the REC mode
 
 
so why the hell does it take 2 button presses to send the message? if the 2 buttons are 2 different midi messages, there are no problems....but when the same message is designated to 2 buttons, it takes 2 presses of the same button to send the midi message...freakin weird
if i never press the same button twice, i can go back and forth from hitting button #1 and button #2 and never have the repeater recognize the 2nd MIDI command
 
this is also how my LP1 responds
 
 
dunno if theres a workaround - was just hoping someone else could verify this or reccomend a midi foot controller that does not work like this
