>>I can only say that this group is really remarkable, and I'm proud to participate, even if it's only cheerleading and occasionally making some recommendations myself.<< I agree.... well, there was m*ko, way back when..... but generally this is a pretty well-behaved bunch. another list I lurk on is about high-end tape recorders, & /only/ certain models by /one/ manufacturer, the ones used in major recording studios & not their low-end broadcast decks, never mind their "domestic" or "semi-pro" off-shoots, & cursed be the poster who mentions "rival" machinery in a favourable light, & if you happen to have less than one hundred years invested in servicing these things then you are treated with more contempt than a teenage learner-driver straying into the path of a semi..... actually, it's become entertaining to bait the high-priest with casual noobisms.... maybe it's because we are musicians. some of the folks on another list that was concerned with the upkeep of a certain tape-replay keyboard said they were musicians/cool people, but they acted crazy too. there were several range-wars. I left after the fourth or fifth one because I was getting called to take sides. I've never felt inclined to leave LD, even when the s/n ratio is worse than six cascaded big muffs..... duncan.
