I can picture a mutant composed of a glass armonica with a "sequencer" 
that mechanically  presses on the glass discs, programmed with punch cards 
like a Jacquard loom.  All run by water power, of course!

Might take some time to put together, but post apocalypse there should be 
plenty of that!
