The RC-50 does not sync to an incoming midi clock alone, it also needs a 
midi start message. Boss knows about the issue for 2 years now but have 
not fixed it. So, it only works if the LP1 also sends a midi start message 
but the result is that the RC-50 will start recording or playing too...and 
that's not exactly what you want.

Btw: I have used both a LP1 and RC-50 with the RC-50 as the master, that 
works fine. The LP1 even syncs perfectly if you use "midi sync rec", also 
minor tap tempo changes from the RC-50 are OK.
