. This weekend, we're planning something different from our usual
in-club PiNG shows as we present a special Sunday afternoon
concert in the auditorium at the Textile Museum of Canada (behind
New City Hall). Come out and settle back into the comfy seats to
enjoy the sonic and visual textures emanating from the stage.

. 2 PM . Contrapture . Matthew Poulakakis, James Bailey and
William Davison play a set of improvised music using home-made,
found, broken and toy instruments.

. 3PM . Building Castles Out of Matchsticks . Queen of the robots,
Anne Sulikowski will be Building Castles Out of Matchsticks as
she coaxes lovely sonics from her synths while cooing and musing
overtop. For this performance, Anne will be playing new songs
off her album "secret land" - available now through Trace Recordings.

. 4PM . dSU . Soundscapes and sequencer-driven space music
piloted by dSU [Scott M2 (dreamSTATE), Eric Hopper (Sylken),
and Jamie Todd (dreamSTATE & URM)] will launch you right
off this planet to explore electronic worlds of sound and light.

Sylken - http://www.sylken.ca
URM - http://www.urm.ca

. 5PM . Kinder Atom . The warm organic flavours of Kinder Atom
will tempt your senses and soothe your soul as their deep electro,
funky, dreamy and gentle ambient sounds fill your body.

. The auditorium is a large space, so who better to fill it visually
than General Chaos Visuals, who will be bringing out their full
arsenal of projectors and light toys to turn the theatre and
the performers into a canvas for their evolving light paintings.

Special thanks go to Maurie Todd and the Textile Museum of
Canada for helping us to make this happen.

ping things is proud to present its latest net label release,
"Where did we come from defcon" by Ortiz is an inspired
collection of tracks that cover a wide range of sounds and
styles. Blending familiar melodic elements with loops and
processed sounds, Laurier Brown of Ortiz has crafted a
fascinating and exciting set of tracks that pays homage to
existing styles while simultaneously staking new ground in
the electronic genre. From the chilled opening of "Comfort
Setting", through the haunted looped phrases and patterns
of "A Hungry Ghost Ain't Got No Love" to the closing pulse and
drone of "Familiar Pattern", "Where did we come from Defcon?"
is an engaging release that ping things is honoured to be able
to present.

"Where did we come from defcon?" by Ortiz is available for free
download as a 78Mb Zip file containing the full release in high
quality 256kbps mp3 format along with artwork suitable for printing.
The music on this release is copyright Laurier Brown 2008, and may
not be used or reproduced without the artist's express permission.

New releases will be added to the ping things site on the 22nd of
each month. In the coming months you'll be able to download
