I don't know how drone--relevant either of them are, but Steffen Basho Junghans and James Blackshaw are worth a listen on the acoustic side. For edgier stuff, (but not solo) you could check out Nels Cline. For Jazzy Americana with noise and loops thrown in there is BIll Frissel.
