"Mainstream media is not penetrated anymore," I think this is true. It may in part be that there are so many alternatives available to those who don't fit that creatives are less likely to attempt infiltration. In past eras, every now once in a blue moon something unexpected would catch on ,when the suits didn;t understand a trend they'd lose some control -in the attempt to cash in on the trend some creative people who would get their feet in the door util the suits figured out how to control and formulize the trend( ie kill it). These days content doesn't drive media, and all sorts of peope will provide content for little or nothing. That's the reasn for so called Reality TV,cut out labor costs.
