Great stuff Rick.

In many other cultures, the music captures all that is human, and this 
includes the melancholic, the reflective upon the human nature and our 
transient/eternal nature.  There is an avoidance of this type of 
reflection 
in much of American/British music, often at the expense of uber-pop music 
that drowns out and attempts to grab the stage from Sad Beauty's soliloquy.
