Zoe, You may want to try your monitor in another location and see if it still buzzes. You may want to substitue a different power cord (probably won't make any difference, but worth a try). Does this happen just on the one monitor or does it happen on other monitors? If it is just the one monitor then there could be a problem with its power supply (specifically, the rectifiers or filter capacitors). If it happens on multiple monitors then the problem is likely your power / house wiring or interference in your area. Also, congratulations on your grant. What a fantastic opportunity!
