Hendrix: I agree, most Hendrix sounds pretty dated, but I reckon the best *sounding* Hendrix record is 'War Heroes' (released posthumously), which seems to have the bass mixed a little louder generally, and there's generally less clutter. I particularly like 'Midnight', just one wonderful guitar, bass and drums. MP3s: In general, I can tolerate the sound of MP3s EXCEPT for that awful splashiness you get on cymbals and hi-hats, which often seems to persist with high sample rate MP3s. --- On Thu, 12/3/09, Miko Biffle <biffoz@gmail.com> wrote: I love Hendrix, but most of recordings still have that narrower range and less bass, giving the recordings a dated sound. MP3's of the same recordings sound dated as well. I understand the basics of high end interpolation and sampling, but still, I just don't hear it.
