I even saw a suicide a couple of years ago. A man was hanging out of his window as my tram passed by. When a film comes along that is being flipant and ironic about such a serious subject, its hard to think that the film-makers are being very clever here. Can making fun of suicide prevent it or promote it? Who knows? Its certainly the right of any artist to tackle any issue they wish, but it will offend someone... The familly of a recently deceased teenager, are not going to think this film is very funny, as I wouldn't if a film came along that tackled the struggle against Cancer as a joke. But humor is often at its best when its black, and one always has the possibility to NOT watch things that you think may offend you. But one has to be careful, shock sells, and now the amount of "feel good" movies being released is less and less. My wife can no longer watch TV (Except Animal Planet, and THAT has too many "The fight for survival in the jungle" programs) for fear of seeing something that will remind her that she narrowly missed death last year.
