Just to offer my (limited) experience with loopers, I have an RC20-XL and a Boomerang+

 

The Boomerang+ will do exactly what you want, you can have 2 seperate loops, and set it so that you can either enter the 2nd loop immediately, or when the first loop ends. The downside is it is expensive for the feature set (@$400), and there is no Undo button but there is Reverse. Soon (?) there will be a new unit out, and so the existing boomerang may drop in price. In my band I use this mostly to tap in delays and to scare the kiddies with strange noises between songs (or make them laugh). Note that it can be difficult to keep the drummer in time with a static loop, some LD folks suggest a seperate monitor feed for that.

 

The RC20-XL offers Undo which is nice, and is about half the price, but only has one loop (also has reverse but need to add a seperate footswitch for that). If I was going to get another looper pedal of this type I would probably get the JamMan, because it offers more features like more memory and USB port, at about the same price

 

Good luck! You may find (like I have) that as you do more looping and learn more about the subject via the artists on LD, you will want more full featured looping capabilities, for this I am using Mobius software(free) on laptop, with a Behringer FCB1010 pedal for Midi control. This has way more features than I possibly have time to experiment with. This will easily do what you want, and if you have a laptop already, will only cost the price of the midi controller (@ $150 for FCB1010) and a USB port midi interface (@ $50-70 for a cheap one).
