Hi Luis, I think 75% of my preparation has been technical, I have spent months and months on it but even then, things went wrong :) So I have to agree with you that technical preparation should be a top priority for each looper. But I'm glad that overall, we haven't had any major technical issues during the Antwerp loopfest. As a festival organizer I'm dependent on many aspects and you only need 1 component which fails and the whole chain will fail :) Preparation, good equipment and knowledge are the key ingredients for success. For example, Ronald and I have fully tested the PA, mics, cables, recorders etc the week before the festival. Remember: Mr.Murphy was an optimist so things will always go wrong but I believe most problems can be avoided if you prepare well. > So improvisation vs. prepared is not really an issue for me,it just >depends on the creativity involved. > For me seeing somebody buid up a drum loop with their mouth doesnt make >it any better > or special if i dislike their music as somebody using a drum sample >whose music i like. > And for a non musical audience all this stuff is completely irrelevant >anyway as they are there to be entertained;-) The funny thing was that Rick Walker thought you used a drum sample ;) As an artist, creating your own drum loop using your mouth can make your performance more interesting but you have to do it right. Michael's piece with the drum loop and the guitar was very good, one of my personal highlights of the festival. Very simple, but very powerfull, less is more. And like I wrote yesterday, in this kind of music it's all about atmosphere, that's what matters. I prefer musicians playing interesting music, playing "in function of a song and a band" rather than musicians playing technically perfect but without a soul. Good examples of the last category are the guitarist who can't stop soloing or the keyboardist using Hammond sounds all the time. So if a drum sample fits in the picture, it fits in the picture, that's fine with me. And besides that, the Antwerp loopfest was not meant to be the World Championship of Live Looping imo ;) --- Sjaak http://euroloopfest.com/ http://sjaakovergaauw.com/ __________________________________ Scarlet Mobile, Gratis abonnement in combinatie met uw Scarlet One of ADSL, surf naar http://www.scarlet.be/nl/mobile3g
