Well you know, it's still scary if you can't see
them. JPR

I think it just has three colors to represent inactive, recording and
playing. Very non scary. It's no tenori-on.

Hi, I heard that this Akai thing had buttons
that light in different colours every time you press them, this scares
me. JPR

I suggest finding a retailer that will let you spend some time with
the akai apc40 as it's designed for total mouse free
performance.

Hi there, I don't know if I told you but
I'm blind. this prevents me from using a computer onstage because I
would need to hear my screen reader speak while I'm performing. What a
drag!
But I was told that Live could be used with
a MIDI controller without having to use the mouse and look at the screen
at all. How true do you think this is? Cheers, JPR
