here are a few hints:
For Top40 chart music:
- Listen to BBC chart stream: 
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/singles.shtml
BBC has also a lot of great (experimental, world, ...) radio stations 
worth checking out.
- MTV (watch chart videos): http://www.mtv.de/charts

Else, I usually listen to music on last.fm. Playlist.com could be also an 
alternative to Spotify. 
Then again, the best source is just simply MySpace and YouTube
