I often use that box and it fits perfectly into a big leg pocket if
going with an aircraft (helping you to stay free from over weight
fees). On the ground I just put some Bubble Wrapper around and fit it
it into my Peli case with the rest of my gear. The Peli case seems non
destructible.

If using a classic rack (I did back in the hardware days with EDP and
Repeaters) you can mount the RME in a half wide one unit rack space
slot. Back then I had a Lexicon multi effect of the same half-wide
size and used a special "half-wide car" mounted in the rack to hold
the unit firmly.
