SH, Besides Rypdal, Torn, Frisell, Towner, Metheny, Abercrombie, and other big names that had their recordings out under their own names, there are also discs by other musicians that have some of these same guys (and others) working as sidemen - where sometimes they do their best work, actually. Jan Garbarek (sax)- Torn and Rypdal have both worked with him. Eberhard Webber (bass) - Frisell has played with. John Surman (sax) - Rypdal has recorded with (as Nordic Quartet). Ketil Bjornstadt (keys) - Rypdal again. Paul Motian (drums) - Frisell got his start with him. Gary Burton (vibes) - Metheny early on Mark Johnson (bass) - Frisell and Scofield both (as Bass Desires) Nils Petter Molvaer (horn) - Eivind Aarset (on a number of CDs) I am sure there are other examples too. Enjoy!
