In Emagic/Apple Logic the part you are recording does not have to have a defined loop length and you can set it to loopmode immediately. But for any hardware solution it would be new indeed. Our (partial) model was the Roland CSQ-100/600 sequencers (but those miss the quantizing). Especially the CSQ600 has this synced recording start, which knows about the ryhtmic structure, but is not bound to a dedicated loop length. Means: It knows where the first beat of pattern is, and starts recording there, but you can stop the recording (=make the loop) at any time. Florian
