Hey Todd,
My EDP also seemed to have a mind of it's own. Drove me crazy the
second I used it right out the box - brand new.

But, I changed the buttons on the foot controller and haven't had one
glitch yet!  I'm now extremely happy w/ the results and have even
recently found more functionality in it playing live with other
people.

I bought the metal (and sturdy) replacement switches from British Audio 
Service.
