Check what MIDI CC's the Nanokontrol is sending. Try staying away from those that are listed by Roland General MIDI (GM) for general stuff as "Voum" (CC7), "Pan" (CC10), "Breath" (CC2) etc etc... Might be a dozen of those. I have not checked in detail with Ableton Live but at least Mainstage has this issue of being hard-wired to these "Mr Jones' Controllers" ;-) with no way to use them without the host application reacting.
