FWIW, the Ableton forums are chock full of comments from folks
having a lot of trouble with Live 8.1. I haven’t tried using Mobius
in live (I run Mobius on a laptop and Live on a separate desktop), but I can
tell you that I have had a lot of crashes ending with the same “live has encountered a severe
problem and has to shut down” message, and it has usually been associated
with a VST. In my case, Kontakt Player 2 and Live seem to dislike each other intensely. I read with interest another reply to this thread, “Chris Sewell [lunamusic@mac.com]: I use it with no problem. Which version of live are you
using? Mac /PC? I use 8 on a mac and have had some stability issues, especailly
when using 3rd party plugs. So my cure was to delete all Lives preferences in
the Library (a pain in the ass), then go to disc utility and rebuild
permissions. Cleared it all up.” I don’t know what rebuild permissions means… yet…
but next week I intend to spend some time trying this out. Hal Dean From: james fowler
[mailto:twostroke@gmail.com] Is this a fresh Live 8 install or did you upgrade an
existing install? -- fresh installation. What is the error message you are seeing? -- when i drag mobius into live's "drag audio effects
here" box, i get a dialog box with three question marks. then i
click ok and another box pops up stating that live has encountered a severe
problem and has to shut down, which is does after clicking
"ok". live will not restart unless i restart the computer. In standalone Mobius bring up the MIDI Devices dialog and
look at the "plugin devices" -- i'll try this tonight. btw, i tried to join the mobius forum/group and never got a
response from the admin. thanks. - jim |
