I recently recorded about 30 minutes of live looping without any "normal" musical intent. I mainly tried to keep my mind blank and just play "something" and the try to react to that without reverting to standard phrases or scales. So is this a "typical" looping peice? Is it to experimental? Do all/most loopers at one stage get into such sound/noise making rather than the traditional rock/jazz music making? To me looping in this style is more like "classical" music, longer and tension and release is not necessarily an issue of chord and harmony, just as much of intensity and calm and development over time without verse and chorus.. looping sort of frees my mind. Or making it blank.. same thing sort of.. I have been looping with the EDP for just about a year now and to ME these types of things sound sort of normal.. My clip that started my thinking is here: http://soundclick.com/share?songid=8787270 So am I just crazy.. Anders |
