Hi there , thanks for all the replies, Mark- yes there is a logic to it, mine are rigged so that edps 1 and 3 are recieving in dual mono and summed togeather to single mono from both upon output, this recieves all my summed insturmentation and effects echoplex 2 is my vocal looper. basically for differant songs i use them in differant combinations sometimes begining with a short loop of drums on edp1 then a chordal passage on edp 3 before finishing with a vocal refrain on edp2 sometimes i bigin by beatboxing a segment into edp 2 then adding a bass line on 1 before finally kicking in drums on 3 etc etc etc i deleberatly break up my song patterns to avoid repitition ( i loop in the folk-tronic prardigm) as a side note...i have litterally just begun to use the same 8th manipulation myself...just got a boss slicer which i love but found sometimes works too slow and sometimes too fast. I have just got around this bymaking a manual switch that selects between edp1s midi out which is set to 2 8ths and edp 2s midi out which is set to 8 8ths so far this is proving very useful ( especially as counter point to the microkorg running clock form edp3s out at 4 8ths !!! Andy / Loaf - interesting points you raise- i always thought that the whole point of brother sync is that it locks the edps together "on a sample level" to quoteth the manual...is this hyperbole ? annoyingly my edps are a true mix, 1 black EDPpro 1 Gibson Whiteface and one Obi but all running loop4 .. i did think about replacing the crystals but i dont know where to get hold of them in the uk. in general i dont have problems with them locking together ...it does work initially and if i record edp1 then edo2 then 3 it is fine and doesnt drift as far as i can see, im still trying ot work out the circumstances in which it buggers up, it may be to do with multiplication on the second edp? can beat sync work in two difections (IE if i plug cables into all threes beat sync could i begin from any edp i choose or does it only work in a master/slave relationship? it is this and the lack of midi outs spare that precludes using midi for sync. hmm more food for thought. thanks Phill From: mark@markfrancombe.com Date: Tue, 4 May 2010 20:42:47 +0200 Subject: Re: 3 x edp sync issue To: Loopers-Delight@loopers-delight.com Is there a reason why you want to be able to start on any EDP and jump to using any EDP? I have a slight issue with starting my session on my 2nd EDP... not edp related, but "rest of gear " related (one edp sends midi to one item while the other sends midi to another and by clever manipulation of the 8th setting I can have various speeds on various bits of gear) I find that just sticking to a routine (start on edp 1 and then do edp 2 stuff) i avoid problems. Another option might be to add empty loops on all machines, time consuming, but if all are running all the time, then surely you can add to any loop at any time?
