Computer's come with different type of FW jacks/plugs. The kind Apple
uses is ok in opinion.

Another digital streaming audio format I like is optical ADAT. I use
it a lot between multiple computer audio interfaces (to pipe through
software mixers) but I know this is also supported by many digital
mixers.

(I know the original post explicitly asked about "firewire", but I
think it may be good to just mention other options as well)
