I just measured my studio and it's 7 foot 3 inches deep and 8 feet wide. Once you account for the shelves, the electronic drums, and the keyboard, there's room for a a drum throne, CD's, cassettes, vinyl and me. No windows, no air vents, it's a walk-in closet in my bedroom. I've made some incredibly quiet recordings there, but the church space is still to envy,  good luck to you.
