Your story really touched my heart. I'm glad you managed to get back
again! I traveled from Scandinavia to USA in 2006 and had the British
Airways' security officer in chief inspect my tenor sax flight case at
London airport and write a paper to verify security check was ok and
it should be taken care of well when checked in. So I checked it in.
But at San Fransisco it never showed up. I asked around among the
airport clerks and finally got informed that my sax from 1929 had
"been tagged as suspicious luggage and transported to a secure area
for termination - if not claimed by the owner within thirty minutes".
I ran like hell towards the mentioned secure area and got there just
five minutes before termination time. Phiew... Still have that tenor,
but when I fly I bring other instruments.
