As for the disassembling the DL4 part, I've already done that. The 
tricky part (for me) was to pull of the five knobs on the top - for 
which you need to pull hard (e.g. with a pair of channellocks covered by 
some cloth) to get them off.

As for suggestions for a replacement - keep 'em coming!
