Oh, I forgot that Bandcamp recently decided to keep 15 percent instead
of nothing. You may mean that change? I think that is ok as well.
Bandcamp still is the only music web shop service that lets you use
specific images for each song within a digital album. It amazes me
that not more offer this because it is a great option for artist's
expression as well as an interesting extra bonus for users.
As I remembered the legal text (don't have time to log in and re-read
it now) it was just the usual stuff that makes it legal for Bandcamp
to host your recordings and use pictures as you as a trademark. The
same stuff that has to be agreed on in traditional artists contracts
to make it legal for a record label to handle the recordings in
public. Nothing there to be afraid of - on the contrary, without
having signed such a deal you should be afraid because then most
countries law would define the Bandcamp service as illegal ;-)

also, i think 10% is a good deal for what they do. i did some research into
other services and bandcamp was the most well designed and the most
responsive in terms of customer support. it was free for a long time and i
was actually relieved when they started charging because that makes me
hopeful they won't disappear!

I've been using BandCamp for a while, now. I like it. Many of my friends use
it. Seems pretty legit to me.

I didn't see anything evil in there. I mean, if you're talking about
the recent restrictions in free givaways? We still have the option to
give free download codes to media people for promotion, this useful
feature has not changed. I think it is good that Bandcamp is not
becoming a free music hub because if that should be allowed Nathan and
the crew wouldn't be able to keep the service up. Server space and
donuts still cost money ;-)
Just "for safety's sake": if you may provide a link to the specific
text you're talking about it may help this discussion.
