i haven't researched this much but I was completely blown away by a  
demo of the Vienna Strings library at NAMM 2 years ago.  their basic  
bundle starts at $265.00 plus $36.00 for the necessary dongle key. I   
assume I was hearing the full suite of sounds which can get really  
expensive., which is what I would want if price were no object.
  I believe as you get the more expensive packages, the level of  
articulation goes up, the nuance of bowing techniques, etc, and I  
assume the cpu drain gets pretty heavy.
