OT SYNTHETIC MODES
Thanks to Matt Stevens for pointing out the page on Modes and Synthetic
Modes in John McLaughlin's book on his Mahavishnu Orchestra material.
Thanks to John McLaughlin for writing them all down and playing so
brilliantly
and inspirationally over the years.
I'll list them all here. I'm pretty sure I got them correct, Anything
in parenthesis are normal modal scale degrees (i.e,. #5 = b6 but
is still the fifth degree of the LEADING WHOLE TONE scale as an example).
If anyone sees any mistakes in transcription please let me know.
Also, I'm not entirely sure I understand how he derived these scales
though the explanation is simple.
Does anyone want to elucidate me?
Happy New Years, Everyone! I feel blessed to be on this list and to know
all of you. My world is immeasurably bigger, better and more loving
because of you all.
love to all and here's wishing you a fantastically creative 2011!!!
