well i'm sure you could get it to work with ratedowns, if you started earlier in the loop and then did the right maths to work out when they should stop. that's given me an idea - maybe more on this later!

When I use similar scripts I try to fix that by mixing parts that
transpose the Rate up and parts that transpose the Rate down in a way
that the resulting loop length on playback will be the same as the
unprocessed loop.

If having the opposite issue - the live processed loop playing back
too fast - you can throw  in a bunch of subcycle's *reverse mode* to
make it sync with the global song time line.

Pitch Shift uses way, way more CPU power compared to Rate Shift. In
fact too much. Better not use it at all.
