Guess I'll chime in on this one ..seems like every one works this one out differently ..I've been surviving on what i make playing for 2 years now..before that i was working in the corporate sector....the last job was an 8 year stint with no complaints from higher up....till one day they walked in and basically said "your job has been eliminated ..don't let the door hit you in the ass" hey around here it happens a lot. I've been gigging off and on, solo and with bands for years and never jumped into it full time..when this happened i was just turning 50....i figured if i played for a living....it would be better than being involved with all the corporate garbage i was daily .and playing music ,the credit, the blame, and the cash went to me ....so that's what i did....i play two gigs a week normally....rent 100$ room in the burbs...drive a 20 year old car....i get by....one gig dries up...i find another.....it took me years and finally corporate BS to convince me this is what i was designed to do ....if i die a pauper .. so be it......i love my art.
