another audio example of mobius scripts in use

ok, so after all the talk about scripts and having spent the last few weeks writing and testing several out, i've finally gotten round to trying to make some music with them

this is a little 2 minute example that uses three scripts. the first is a variation on one that Per sent to me a while back, called "speed grid", which changes the rate of the loop (while overdubbing) to create a melodic sequence from a single note played into the loop. the second a "bass grid" that changes the rate of the loop at selected times to make a bass groove from a single note. the third is a variation of my copy pan script that copies a loop onto the next track, pans them, and trims the last 8th off the second loop after multiplying it by 2

so there are four loops running - the first is a rate sequence, the second is a copy of the rate sequence, shortened by an 8th, the third is some bass notes and the fourth (which comes in a bit later) is me just fooling around swelling in some notes and chords.

the first loop is treated with PSP's Nitro (a kind of ohmboyz filtered delay thing), and the second loop is treated with a sequenced filter (audiodamage bigseq) which is running in 4/4, even though the underlying loop isn't in 4/4 (it's 15 beats long). the effect is quite strong, so i think it disguises the fact that the underlying loop is in a different time sig, but i think it works ok

so the whole groove was set up from TWO NOTES. mobius and the fx do the rest. this harks back to what per said about scripts allowing you to create stuff that you wouldn't necessarily be able to play.
