I have found this thread very interesting, especially the input the
Axe FX Ultra that I have not gotten to play with yet. In fact it was
playing with an Eventide Eclipse for a while (together with the
FireworX) that convinced me to concentrate on customizing my own
modular system on a laptop with a good audio interface. TC Electronics
and Eventide have a bit different approaches to effect sound patch
design and I learned a lot by studying them. Of course those brands
use different solutions for filters etc and that makes them sound a
little different, but to me the real clue is not which brand is
stamped on the front plate but rather the chosen approach in signal
routing. If you check out what is happening inside the box you can
pretty much replicate most patches in a modular system, given you
assemble the modules needed.
