Re: 2045: The Year Man Becomes Immortal
Title: Re: 2045: The Year Man Becomes Immortal
In my opinion, this would require a huge ethical shift. I was brought up to believe that this world was created for man and we were given dominion over it. But due to our silly misbehavior, it now is the playground of the devil, and our perfect little happy place lies elsewhere.
Why would someone be motivated to be warm and fuzzy to the planet, then? I own it, I’m at the top of the food chain, it’s all going in the shitter anyway, and I won’t be here when it hits the fan.
I’m glad I don’t believe that anymore, but lots of people do.

the part about nano technology compensating for the imbalance we introduced into the environment is really scary. Would'nt it be much simpler to avoid destroying all the beauty and wealth which we received as a gift?
