Re: Splitting Signal (solved)

Christopher,

Wow. Functional or not, those are just about the cutest things I've ever seen!  I want to collect the whole set :)

In any case I have, with everyone's help, finally settled on a splitting solution. Just picked up the Rane SM26b on eBay for a song (the only upgrade the SM26s contains is a different power cable thingie). This unit does *precisely* what I need and will play nice with the rest of my gear.

Radio Design Labs ( http://www.rdlnet.com/ ) has a series of incredibly small yet high quality (low noise to signal ratio, etc) units for very specific utilities, such as splitting and switching and converting from Hi to Low impedance, etc, etc.

I think they were called the "stick on series." But I'm not sure what they have now, it was years ago, but worth checking into for anyone trying to keep a small footprint (which most loopers do because we tend to do a lot.)

The units themselves are about the size of two matchbooks and you wire them in yourself. The power supply is bigger so if you find yourself getting a few, get the power supply that powers a few too.

Creating a signal flow design with these things back when I put 5 instruments and vocals  (with 2 sets of affects)  into 3 echoplexes was super fun and worked well.

I may still have some to sell if you get interested. Not sure which ones, but I'm quite sure I have a splitter or two left.

(sorry if duplicate post, mail gremlins here...)

Hey Loopfolk, seeking some product advice.

Currently I'm taking mono send from my Mesa Boogie Mark IV's effects loop, out to multiple loopers (EDP, LP1, Repeater), and back to the Mk4's stereo returns, summed to stereo via (at the moment) a little Mackie 1202 mixer.

For now, I'm splitting that mono send into multiple looper inputs plus dry signal direct into mackie via a less than optimal Morley ABC box setup... but it's noisy and a little bejankety :)

I've seen a lot of talk here about mixers, but not so much about splitters: how to take one mono send and feed that to multiple inputs....

I am looking hard at this (costly) unit from Radial: http://www.radialeng.com/di-jd7.htm

Anyone have experience with it? Are there cheaper alternatives anyone might recommend?

Phil :)
