Midi Question

Hello,

This is possibly a very silly question but since I try to think about
midi just enough to make things work, I'm not always confident in my
capacities with the stuff.

I have a MOTU 828 that has no midi connection and I'm trying to
control things in Live with the FCB 1010 (or will be).  I thought I
could run the Midi out of the FCB to a Berhringer rotary control that
has Midi IN ports and runs via USB to get the signal into the
computer.  Is there any reason this shouldn't work that people can
think of?  I'm running a MAC so I'm not sure of a MIDI OX equivalent
here to see if things are coming in.

Some days I feel on top of this stuff and days I feel very much under
it all.  Any guesses where I am this week?
